OMRON sells their Pain Relief Pro Professional TENS unit through retailers such as Walgreens along with accessories such as Electrotherapy pads. Purchased the main unit on sale for $54.99 regular price $69.99 and a package of two additional Electrotherapy pads for another $21.99.As this is the most expensive TENS unit Walgreens sells over the counter one might think it must be a good product. The package description is deceptive. It fails to mention the TENS unit only works for 15 minutes at a time and then shuts off. It must be reset each time it is restarted. Most people you see wearing a TENS unit have it set on continous so they can walk, work and sleep as necessary. This TENS has NO continous setting. At work you have to keep checking it all the time to restart it. Can not sleep with it as you pretty much are awakened by pain and have to turn on the lights to restart it. In the manual, they claim the TENS unit is meant for up to three 15 minute therapy sessions a day, utter nonsense to support the lack of the necessary continous option. They also fail to mention on the outside of the package, this is a single channel TENS unit, so there are only two places to apply the Electrotherapy pads at a time. The instructions are also poor in that they say it can be used for Sciatic Pain, but fail to say what setting to use (back or leg) as they do for some other compaints. A search on ebay, in my opinion, found better TENS units, with case, dual channel runs 4 Electrotherapy pads, continuous use setting, buy it now, free shipping, for half the price of the Omron. Further search can find units with additional Electrotherapy pads for a little more.
