Complaint: Santa Moonica Nissan internets sales person Michale Harris told me they had a very specific car I was looking for a 2006 Nissan 350Z. I had purchased a plane ticket to go from Washington state to California to buy this car from another dealer, but when this car fell through I started calling other dealers in the area to find another one. With 4 day left before my flight, I contacted Micale harris from Santa Monica nissan. After telling him the car I was after he called me back the next morning and said he has the exact car I had asked about, and it had arrived on a truck the night before. At this point we agreed on a price and he ran my credit and got me all approved. I called back the original dealer where I first started working with to thank him for his time, and to let him know I found another dealer that had the car I wanted. I told him the dealer, and he searched their inventory and said it does not show they have the car they are telling you they have. They have one similar but it does not have the charcoal leather you want, it has burnt orange leather. I immediatly called Michael at Santa Monica Nissan and told him this, and to ask him if he has physically seen this car to verify it has charcoal leather, and he said yes I have, don’t worry I have your car. I said ok, see you in two days. Two days later on the day of my flight I called him in the morning and left a message for him to call me, and got no response through out the day. Later that day I got a ride to the airport 100 miles away from home. About a half hour before boarding my plane I called Michael one more time to find a place to stay in that town, and that I would be there first thing in the morning. Michael said there is a problem with the car. I asked what it was, and he said they really did not have the car they said they did. Michael said the car we have has Burnt Orange leather, and we were going to switch the seats with another car on the lot that had charcoal leather. He sid now they do not want to do that. I told him to speak to his mannager immediatly and make them do it, because I poiny blank asked him two day earlier if he had seen my car to see it had charcoal leather and he said yes. I informed him I had already had bought my plane ticket and had no way of getting a refund, and also told him I had no ride home and would be stuck at the airport 100 miles from home, and all he had to say is I’m sorry. He said just come down, and we will make you a better deal on this one with the nasty orange leather seats. I declined. If I had not called to find a place to stay, they were going to let me fly all the way there, then tell me they really did not have the car they said they did. I belive that is called bait and switch. I have filed with the Attorney general, and the BBB. In both cases Santa Monica Nissan lied to them too and said I told them I would be there on a buisness trip, and I should stop by. They lied to me, I don’t know why I should expect them to tell the truth to the BBB. I had no buisness trip to Santa Monica, I was there to buy a car and with two days before my flight I stopped looking for one because they said they have it. I am out $250 for my plane ticket and $30 for a bus ticket home. 1 week later I found my car in California and paid to have it shipped to Washington state.
