Complaint: I had called 4 tire places on November 23, 2010 to get a price on 4 tires for my SUV. After getting a price from all 4, I decided to go with Schall’s Tire in Grove City, Pa. because they quoted me a cheaper price. The quotes all were for the same brand tire(one’s that I had on the vehicle since it was brand new and I had good luck with these particular tires). The price I was quoted from Schall’s was $146 per tire and he said that would be mounted, balanced and everything except for the tax. So I asked what the total would be for 4 tires including tax, he took a minute to figure that out and said ‘that would be $623.04 out the door’. So after I had the tires installed today, November 26, 2010, he handed me the bill for more than that. I also had them install 2 front rotors, so I asked him what the bill would be without the rotors and he showed me the bill for the tires of $624 PLUS TAX. I then told him that was more than I was quoted, but I did not have the quoted price with me. So when I got home, I pulled out my paper with my quotes and immediately called Schall’s and got the same guy on the phone. When I told him that he quoted me $146 per tire mounted and balanced and it would be $623.04 with tax included, he said that he did not quote me that and there was nothing else he could do. I now see that he just wrote down the final quote that he told me 3 days ago, but probably did not write down that I asked for the price with tax included and then proceeded to charge me the tax again.
