Complaint: I purchased my Prius in 2005 from this dealer (they were in a different location then). I purchased a Toyota Rav4 from this dealer as well as another Prius in 2008. A few months back I took my car to this dealer. I trust my service advisors and I ALWAYS have performed suggested services – without question. This time, I was told that my air conditioner needed to be flushed – something they did with vinegar or ammonia because it smelled a little (dissipated quickly). That same day, my friend took in the 2008 Prius. Strangely, the dealer service rep called him up and told him that he needed the same air conditioner service – warning him that his air conditioner had developed dangerous mold. My friend declined (knowing about my service) and went to pick up his car. While at the dealer, he asked FOUR other Prius owners who were picking up their cars and ALL had been told they needed the service. One indicated that his service representative told him that his child would be put in DANGER if he didn’t do it. I called and complained. My friend called and threatened to the go to the paper unless they refunded my money. I received a call from a Sales Manager who PROMISED to investigate the issue – pure bullshit – I think his name was Jim. He refunded my money, nervously telling me that he hoped my friend wouldn’t do what he had threatened and that I wouldn’t post this. I got my money back but I hate that this dealership is probably still hurting other good-hearted people who are just trying to get by. I can’t go forward in good conscious without giving anyone looking the opportunity to become aware that this dealership conducts fraudulent service practices. Oh, by the way, I took my complaint to Toyota Corp. ZERO response. I will never buy another Toyota.
